Hark, a comic!
There’s an homage to a classic SF story in this page. Can you spot it?
I met some very nice people today at a local comic show. Dawn Griffin, who does the delightful Zorphbert & Fred and a great set of instructional videos on Youtube, Vincent LoGreco, artist of Oh-No Comics, and Louis Small, Jr., a great penciller, inker, and cover artist who has worked on many titles for DC, Marvel, Top Cow, and others. They were all really cool people, had great things to say, and it was a pleasure to meet them and talk to them about comics and artwork.
Getting out of the house was nice, but it wore me out. Time to rest. Zzzzz.
“Fruitier than a nutcake” was used in Star Trek III, yes? Kirk says it to one of the guards when they’re busting McCoy out of the security lockup.
That one was a trick. It’s indeed an allusion, but it’s not truly a “classic SF story”. That’s a well-known SF movie, also the source of TWYGFMSM, which I’ve always pronounced “TWIGfuhMIsm”. This, of course, stands for “That’s what you get for missing staff meetings.”
But that isn’t the reference I was talking about. It’s older, from a written story, and apparently more obscure than I thought.
Thanks for he mention here. It was nice meeting you as well!
Dusseldorf Tandem Rig? I forget the story 1984?
Nope, not 1984.
lets try again this is using up scarce brainspace:
Hitchhikers Guide to the galaxy, Ford Prefect regarding the Vogons engines of destruction
Ooh, way cold.
Oh, now come on. I would think that Cholly would have put his two minims in on this one. Well, beggars can’t be choosers, and I’m not going to be slavish about it.
